Who we are

The Pastoralist Community Initiative and Development Assistance (PACIDA) is an indigenous, non-sectarian, non-profit, Non-Governmental Organization committed to sustainable pastoralist development. PACIDA works with pastoralist communities in Kenya and Ethiopia to end poverty, hunger and disease while addressing the most pressing challenges affecting the communities.

Mandate and Objectives

Through its constitution, PACIDA is mandated to support development initiatives and strengthen local capacities through;
Partnering with community groups, other like-minded development actors, relevant government units and even private sector to effectively respond to community needs and issues.
Identification, prioritization and implementation of relevant development projects, taking participation as a cardinal principle in all cases.
Leveraging local and external funding to support identified development projects, establish and maintain contact with both local and international stakeholders.
Knowledge and learning culture – to document lessons learnt and experiences gained in the process of implementing community driven development projects with a view to demonstrating best practices and contributing to a community of knowledge and best practices.
